Welcome to Web Intelligence and Big Data. Unlike previous editions, this session is being offered in self-study mode, without any graded homework or exams and therefore no certification / statement of accomplishment. Unfortunately, I will not be regularly visiting the forums nor will there be any TA support. At the same time, since there is no fixed duration, I may, from time to time, plunge in to some discussions or upload additional material or even extend the course. Time will tell.

Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy going through the material and attempting quizzes designed to test a basic level of understanding. Most importantly, I hope you all participate in animated discussions in the forums and earn from each other, whenever you may happen to join the course. Note that enrolment will remain open at least until the end of 2014 (or maybe even beyond).

This course was offered thrice during Fall 2012, Spring 2012 and Fall 2013; in Fall of both years it was also taken for credit at IIT Delhi and IIIT Delhi. During this period, I also wrote a book to elucidate the ideas discussed in the course at a 'popular' level:
