Instructors: Gaetano Borriello and Luis Ceze
They are both faculty in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA [USA] and have taught courses in computer systems for the past 25 and 10 years, respectively. Gaetano's research is in mobile systems and their application in resource-constrained settings such as the developing world with particular emphasis on data collection and sensor systems. Luis' research is in improving performance, reliability, and energy efficiency of multiprocessor and multicore systems, with a focus on cross-stack work in architecture, compilers, programming languages and operating systems.
In their spare time, Gaetano and Luis are both interested in good food, both cooking and eating. Gaetano enjoys hiking on islands while Luis is more of a beach person.
