Welcome to the second course; Data structure for designers using Python. Remember that this is the second course of our certificate programming for designers. If you haven't covered the first course, I invite you to go back and revisit that content. The course is called Python fundamentals for designers. I'm going to do a little recap in case you already know a bit of coding, and you want to start in this point in the course, what we have covered so far. We're learning Python within the processing environment. Processing is a small application that has a Python mode, so we could actually write interactive sketches dynamically, and we have a Canvas, so we can actually draw things to the screen. We have covered syntax, variables, coordinates, and functions. That's the first week of the Course 1. But we've also tackled things like conditional statements, Boolean logic, simple state machines to start creating certain interactive designs. We've covered transformations, things like translate, rotate, and scale, using the push and pop matrix operations within processing. Finally, we have spent some time looking at reading and writing data. We have covered how to read and write text files, but also CSV files like comma separated values as well as pixel data. We open up images, read the pixel data, re-write those in different formats. That's basically an overview of what we have covered already in Course 1. If you feel like you have a grasp over that content, I invite you to continue with this second course; Data structure for designers. I look forward to seeing you in class.
