Course format:

Every week, there will be two video lectures, one reading assignment, and one quiz (6 questions), released Tuesday at noon (New York time).  There is no quiz in the first week, in order to accommodate students who enter the course late. The final exam in the last week of the course will be similar in format to the quizzes, but will have twice as many questions and will cover material from the entire course.

Grading policy:

Here is how the final grade for the course will be calculated:

Weekly quizzes
(Weighting: 75%)
Each quiz will contain 6 questions, and you will have 7 days to submit it.

Final exam
(Weighting: 25%)
The final will contain 10 questions, and you will have 7 days to submit it.

Certificate of Accomplishment
Students who complete all quizzes and the final exam with an average of greater than 60% will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment.

More on grading and late material:

All graded materials should be submitted through the course website and will be graded electronically by the course software.

  • For quizzes, you will allowed three attempts each.  You will be able to see the explanations/ hints immediately after you submit. If you get a question wrong, we will not display the correct answer.
  • Quizzes are due Tuesday at midnight (New York time). Anything submitted after that will be subject to 50% grade penalty and an additional 10% for every day late. Submissions that are more than 5 days late will receive no credit. You will have 10 late days to spend on the quizzes, but you are advised that late days move the due date (and hence eliminate the late submission penalty) not the hard deadline.
  • For your final exam, you will allowed two attempts.
  • For the in-video quizzes, you will also be allowed up to three attempts, but in-video quizzes will not count towards your course grade.
