Forums: a Quick HowTo Help Center
Here's a quick recipe for a headache: mix thousands of clever students with a class that's rich in math and illustrations and tries to implement interesting homework. You will be quickly submerged by an avalanche of comments, feature requests, alerts for typos and mistakes and you'll spend most of your day trying to structure this incredible flow of information.
So, in order to avoid a situation of utter chaos, we kindly ask you to heed the following guidelines when you create a new post in the forums (or "fora" for the latinists amongst you):
- if you think you found an error (eg. a typo or a mathematical mistake) in the homework or in the lectures, please consult the Errata first, to check if we have already answered to a similar post before; if you spotted an error in the book, please consult the errata page in the book's website to check if someone got there first
- if the errata doesn't address your issue, please post your comment on the appropriate "Did you spot a mistake" forum, choosing between lectures, homework or numerical examples
- for suggestions on how to improve the class, use the "Feature Requests" forum
- for all other theoretical questions about the class (things that are not clear conceptually, philosophical questions about DSP etc) use the "Lectures" and "Assignments" forums
- as a general rule, please do a search in the forum before posting, with so many students it's highly likely that someone else asked the same question before.
A final note on technical problems. We do not control the Coursera platform and therefore we can only relay your complaints about the infrastructure to the Coursera staff for interventions. However, for all issues related to HTML, style sheets etc please try to use the Chrome browser and see if the issue persists.
Thank you for your cooperation and happy posting!
The teaching staff.
