Discussion Forum Guidelines Help Center
Many people have strong opinions about certain aspects of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, and this can result in heated debate. The discussion forums can be a great resource for all of us, but only if we use them wisely. So we would like to establish some ground rules for how we talk to each other.
-
Be respectful
Please be respectful of each other’s opinions. Disagreement is fine and you should feel free to challenge the standpoints of your fellow students. But do so in a straightforward and polite way. You can tell someone that you think his or her reasoning is fallacious, or overlooks an important objection, but please avoid commenting on other people’s intelligence. There is nothing to be gained from posting rude, insulting or abusive comments. -
Engage with the course material
Use the forums to discuss points made in the lectures and the readings. It is not going to be helpful to your fellow classmates, or to yourself, to merely state your already established opinion. Explore the points and the arguments in the course material and use them to examine and challenge your own convictions. -
Listen, don’t just talk
You are taking this class with students from a variety of backgrounds, and many of them are sure to have perspectives on the course topics that differ from yours. Take advantage of that diversity to listen more than you talk. See the forums as an opportunity to have informed, and thought-provoking debates with people you might not meet in your regular life.
